Who we are
Motion Bay is a trading name of Parkstrasse Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 14996458. Our registered office is 1 Beauchamp Place, 10 Victors Way, Barnet EN5 5TZ. Parkstrasse Limited is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice.

What data we hold, and why
We manage private car parks for landowners. To do that we handle personal data for these purposes:
- Managing private parking. Applying the parking rules a landowner has set for their site, including permits, visitor windows and paid parking.
- Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR). Cameras at the entrances and exits of a site read vehicle registration marks, with the date and time and a photograph of the vehicle.
- Issuing parking charges. Where a vehicle is parked outside the rules for a site, we issue a parking charge notice to the vehicle’s keeper, with the evidence attached.
- Keeper enquiries. Where a charge is issued, we ask the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) for the name and address of the registered keeper, through the DVLA’s process, so the notice can be sent. We do this only where a charge is issued.
- Appeals. Reviewing what you tell us when you appeal a charge, together with any evidence you send, and replying to you.
- Payments. Taking payment of a parking charge and issuing a receipt.
- Complaints and enquiries. Reading and replying to anything you send us by email or through a form on this site.
The data involved is: vehicle registration marks, photographs of vehicles, dates and times, keeper names and addresses obtained from the DVLA, the details you give us in an appeal, complaint or enquiry (your name, email address, whether you were the driver or the keeper, what happened, and any photographs or documents you attach), and payment records.
Our lawful basis
We rely on legitimate interests: ours and the landowner’s in managing the private land properly, in enforcing the parking terms on display, in recovering parking charges, and in handling appeals and complaints fairly. We have balanced those interests against your rights. We minimise what we collect, we keep it only while it is needed, and a person reviews every appeal.
Who we share data with
- Our back-office processor, which handles the issuing of notices, correspondence and payments on our behalf under a contract with us.
- The DVLA, when we ask for a keeper’s details where a charge is issued.
- The appeals service. If you escalate an appeal to the Independent Appeals Service (IAS), we share the case file with it so it can decide.
- The providers that run this website and deliver its forms, which see only the data needed to serve the page or deliver your message.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
Vehicle data, photographs, keeper details and appeal correspondence are retained only for as long as a charge or appeal is live, then deleted on schedule. Where no charge is issued, the vehicle record is deleted on schedule without any keeper details ever being requested.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct data that is wrong;
- ask us to delete data, or to stop using it, where there is no longer a good reason to keep it;
- object to our use of your data on the basis of legitimate interests.
To use any of these rights, email privacy@wearemotionbay.co.uk with your name and, if you have one, your notice reference. A person will reply within one month.
Complaints about how we handle your data
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
